Linda Layer – PrincipalLayer_Linda

Hello everyone.  My name is Linda Layer.  I grew up on a farm in southwestern Wisconsin and attended Richland High School in Richland Center.  Viterbo University is where I attained my bachelors with a double major in History and Drama.  After working in the business world for a time I returned to              UW Platteville where I gained a masters in secondary education and a minor in Broadfield Social Studies.  My first teaching position was at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Richland Center.  Growing up in a small community I wanted to experience a large city so I moved to Milwaukee.  There I worked in Milwaukee Public Schools at Roosevelt Middle School of the Arts.  Two principals pushed me into the area of administration and I found I like working with students, parents and teachers in making the learning environment safe and productive.  My first position as a principal was with the Elcho school system and then I moved back to southern Wisconsin as the K12 principal for the Cassville School system.  Last year I served as the interim principal for SS. Andrew Thomas School in Potosi, Wisconsin.  I obtained an additi8onal masters in curriculum and instruction through the University of Phoenix.  Presently, I am completing the final steps to gain certification for Director of Instruction and Superintendent through Viterbo University.  I advocate lifelong learning and I believe my life also demonstrates and supports what I tell children.  I look forward to working with the staff, students and parents of St. Mary’s.
